Sports: Cricket: Ex-cricketers urge foreign teams to come to Pakistan

Karachi: Pakistan is one of the greatest cricket playing nations, the claim, which has now been bolstered after Pakistan recorded series triumph against world champions India in their own backyard, therefore the international community must reconsider their decision to deprive Pakistan of international action, feels former Pakistani cricketers.

“Pakistan is one of the top cricket playing nation,” former cricketer Basit Ali said. “I think this has now been proved after Pakistan defeated India in the ODI series. On this occasion I want to request the international teams to visit Pakistan for the sake of the game.”

Pakistan on Thursday recorded their second victory by 85 runs against hosts India in the second match of the three match ODI series in Kolkata. Earlier in the first match played in Chennai, Pakistan recorded a six wicket victory.

Basit added that Pakistani cricket fans want to see international cricketers playing in their country.

“People want to see Virender Sehwag, Dhoni and Mike Hussey playing here in Pakistan. People here love cricket and therefore they should not be deprived of international action,” he added.

Meanwhile, another former cricketer and cricket analyst Sikandar Bakht also asked foreign teams to come to Pakistan to play cricket.

“Our players today showed what we are capable of. They proved that we are one of the best team in the world. Therefore, the foreign teams should come to Pakistan,” he said.

Pakistan has not hosted a Test team since the attack on Sri Lankan team in March 2009.
