Karachi: In a match, which was a dress-rehearsal of the summit clash, South African women cricket team confirmed their dominance in the tournament registering a seven-wicket triumph against Pakistan in a dead rubber encounter on Wednesday night in PCB Qatar Women’s T20 Tri-Series Tournament in Doha, Qatar.
After thrashing Ireland, the third team participating in the tournament, by nine wickets, Protease took the momentum in their second match of the day as well against Pakistan. South Africa and Pakistan will again come face to face in the final of the tournament on Friday.
Pakistan batted first in the match and put on board a modest total of 96 runs before losing all of their wickets in 20 overs. Nahida Khan top scored for the side with 33 runs. Moseline Daniels captured three wickets while Shabnam Ismail and Suné Luus two wickets each.
South Africa in their turn reached the target with seven wickets in hand and five balls to spare. Skipper Mignon du Preez scored 38 while lizelle Lee scored 30 in the match.
South Africa has lost only one match in the tournament and the team’s form shows that the team is favorite to win Friday’s final.
South Africa last week had clinched Qatar International ODI Tri-Series Tournament title after beating Pakistan in the final.
