Karachi: Pakistan’s top golfer Mohammad Shabbir Iqbal clinched Prime Minister Golf Open Championship, which recently concluded in Rawalpindi.
Leading the Ufone team in the tournament, Shabbir clinched top position with a top class performance of a total of 15-under-par.
Another Ufone team player Matloob Ahmed came second with a score of five-under par.
“I am fortunate to have held the No.1 position for a number of years and till date I feel the pressure from other professionals in each tournament we participate in. Winning the Prime Minister Open is indeed a moment of pride for me. I am also excited to receive Rs.100,000 prize from Ufone,” Shabbir said.
He added that Ufone has playing an active part in golf over the last year and has encouraged each member of team Ufone to bring out their best on the course.
“Ufone is the only organization in Pakistan which is taking interest in the sport of Golf. Earlier this year in July, Ufone organized a children’s golf clinic at the Karachi Golf Club where I had also participated as a coach and was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the children. We as golfers look forward to the development of the sport and an honoured to be a part of such a positive initiative,” Shabbir added.
