Sports PAKISTANI SKIERS PARTICIPATE IN ‘DREAM TRAINING PROGRAMME’ IN KOREA

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Ski team comprising 02 athletes and 01 coach have reached Korea to participate in Winter Sports ‘Dream Training Programme2013’ in Gangwon Province, the Republic of Korea.

Air Marshal Farhat Hussain Khan, Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force who is also the president Ski Federation of Pakistan, has given elaborate guidelines to the various Ski Associations of Pakistan for the grooming and training of Pakistani Skiers for the forthcoming Winter Olympics 2014 being held at Sochi, Russia.

He had also approved the plan for participation of SFP contingent in Dream Training Programme Korea – 2013 in the last Executive Committee Meeting.

‘Dream Training Programme’ is initiated by Gangwon Province, the host of Pyeong Chang 2018 Winter Olympics, as a promotion plan for young winter sports athletes.

Since 2004, the Province is inviting skiers from countries, where winter sports facilities are not amply provided.

In order to expand and develop the Dream Training Programme, the Province is operating a Winter Sports Academy which provides lessons from Korean National team level athletes to raise quality of training.

About 150 participants from 40 different countries are participating in ‘Dream Training Programme2013’. Pakistan has already attended the last two consecutive training sessions.

Besides benefiting from ski training, Pakistani skiers would have opportunity to promote culture and friendship among the comity of nations. Mr Shahid from International Olympic Committee and Embassy of Korea in Pakistan have extended their full support and cooperation in materializing these training sessions.
