Sports: Sepak Takraw: NBP Cup Sepak Takraw C’ship begins June 8

Karachi: The inaugural NBP Cup Sepak Takraw Championship will be played here at Dewa Academy on June 89.

Sindh’s eight regional teams including host Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Mirpurkhas would be seen in action during the two-day event.

Sepak takraw is closely related to volleyball but it is played without using hands – as players are allowed to use their feet, chest and head to propel the ball in opponent’s area unlike volleyball where only hands are used.

Popular in East Asia, the game of sepak takraw has now become a regular feature of Asian Games and South East Asian Games.
