Karachi: Softball Federation of Pakistan SFP’s media manager Asif Azeem on Wednesday said that SFP and Pakistan Baseball Federation PBF have join hands in a bid to see their respective sports back in the Olympics 2020.
“Both SFP and PBF will work together throughout the country by holding several events from June 29 in an effort to see softball and baseball back in Olympics,” Asif Azeem said.
SFP and PBF are looking forward to organize seminars, workshops, activities on social media and matches to promote the Olympic bid.
Both the sports have nearly similar characteristics with softball having a lighter ball than the one used in baseball.
He said that international federations of both baseball and softball has already joined hands and have established World Baseball and Softball Confederation WBSC in order to see both sports back in the Olympics fold.
Asif further said that International Olympic Council IOC has already shortlisted both the sports for inclusion in Olympics.
Asif said that WBSC Presidents Riccardo Fraccari and Don Porter and International Softball Federation ISF’s secretary general Low Beng Choo’s efforts for both sports’ inclusion in Olympics are laudable.
