Strict security assured for shrines

Umerkot, Sindh: Superintendent of Police (SP) Umerkot, Riaz Ahmed Soomro, said on Friday that all possible steps would be taken to provide strict security to shrines in the district.

He assured this during a meeting with representatives of 30 shrines and police officers at his office here. Deputy Commissioner Umerkot Syed Ahmed Ali Shah Jilani was also present on the occasion.

SP urged the representatives of the shrines to inform relevant SHO and SP office before holding any congregation or gathering as part of the safety measurements. He asked the people to keep eye on suspects and inform area police or call on Umerkot emergency centre No 0238-570002.

He further said the volunteers of shrines should dispatch the copy of their NICs, two photographs to area police station and SSP office for security cards. These volunteers will perform the duties and search the devotees, he added.

DC Umerkot said, “No religion allows killing men, so it is necessary to bring the enemies of humanity to their logical ends. Terrorists are worst enemies of Pakistan, therefore, the killers of innocent people do not deserve to be called as human.

He urged the representatives of the shrines to also keep eye on extremists and inform the police so as to combat anti-state terrorists.
