Students’ Advancement Endowment Fund established at Shah Latif University

Khairpur: The Students’ Advancement Endowment Fund has been established at Shah Abdul Latif University SALU Khairpur for which the Promotion of Education in Pakistan PEP, a US based foundation has donated one million rupees to the University.

The Vice Chancellor of SALU Professor Dr. Parveen Shah and others also announced donation for the Fund at launching ceremony of National Education Fund Raising Week held at Allama I.I Kazi Hall of SALU on Friday.

Prof Dr. Parveen Shah speaking on the occasion said that Higher Education Commission, Islamabad has taken initiative to establish Students Advancement Endowment Fund in collaboration with USAID Funded Merit Need Based Scholarship Program under PEP Foundation in all public sector universities. “HEC has directed all Universities to establish the Students Advancement Endowment Fund and raise the funds through various means.

She said that the fund will help bring betterment in the curricular and co curricular activities.
Taking initiative Dr. Parveen Shah donated Rs.10000/ from her own pocket to the endowment fund. The Deans and Professors will donate Rs.5000 and 1000 for this noble cause.

Dr. Parveen Shah added that students of this University are also involved in the fund raising activities.

Director Endowment Fund handed over the donation slips/books to Chairmen, Chairpersons and Incharges.

Sarfaraz Ali Korejo Executive Director of Students Advancement Fund Endowment donated Rs.9999/ to endowment Fund.

Prof Dr. Shafique Ahmed Arain presented welcome address and said that establishment of University Advancement Fund will provide an opportunity for deserving and meritorious students as it is aimed at providing scholarships and trainings for needy and meritorious students.

The Student Advancement Fund Endowment Management will open a bank account a Board of Trustees will manage and oversee the endowment fund.
