Karachi: A high-level meeting of police officers reviewed steps to cope with rise in target killing incidents in Karachi and decided to deploy police sharpshooters in affected areas.
The meeting presided over by Additional Inspector General Police Karachi Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh and attended by district SSPs, divisional SPs, SPs Investigation, SDPOs and SHOs reviewed the current law and order scenario of Karachi, particularly the target killings of cops, ranger personnel and city wardens.
It was decided that all investigation officers would also coordinate with other IOs working on target killing cases and share information as these incidents and their motives are often closely related.
It was also decided that the standard operating procedure of forensic division Sindh would be followed in case investigation and is standard operating procedure would also be translated into Urdu and Sindhi languages. Next week a forensic training program for investigation officers would be started.
It was decided to deploy police sharpshooters and snipers in the areas affected by target killings. Moreover, special investigation teams would be constituted to probe into pending cases of targeted killings of police officers and cops.
The police was ordered to take all-out efforts to ensure safety of life and property of citizens.
