Teachers protest corruption in education dept

Dadu, Sindh: A large number of teachers on the call of Primary Teacher Association (PTA) Dadu chapter took to streets on Tuesday against massive corruption, out of turn promotions, bogus appointments of teachers in education department.

A large number of schoolteachers led by Inayat Jamali, Salim Memon, Abdul Ghafoor Laghari and Waseem Khokhar staged protest demonstration and sit-in against the education department authorities outside the Dadu Press Club.

The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against education authorities. They said out of turn promotion of junior teachers are condemnable and injustice with senior teachers. They said huge corruption and bribery was involved in purchase of furniture for schools.

The protesters appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take notice of corruption and fake appointments in Sindh education department to save the education sector from further destruction.

Due to the protest of teachers some 1962 schools of Dadu district remained closed, affecting more than 250000 students.
