Terrorismhit Karachi be deweaponised: moot told

KARACHI: Sindh Writers and Thinkers Forum SWTF leaders said on Saturday that a new social contract should be made among the constituent units of federation of Pakistan through new constituent assembly on the basis of spirit of 1940 Lahore Resolution.

This demand was by the leaders at Sindh Agenda Conference, held at Karachi Press Club, which was organized by Sindh Writers and Thinker Forum. The conference chaired was by Naseer Memon, while Shaukat Shoro was the chief guest.

Naseer Memon said geographical unity and historical status of motherland Sindh cannot be compromised at the wish of any ethnic group, political party, government or assembly. He said any legislation or administrative structure causing geographic division of Sindh is not acceptable to the people of Sindh.

He said Sindhi language should be given status of one national languages of Pakistan and serious efforts should be made to implement Sindh language as an official language of Sindh province.

Shoro said natural and economic resources of Sindh should be utilized for its economic development. He said terrorismhit capital city, Karachi, should be deweaponised so as to combat all kinds of terrorism and promote Sufi, tolerant and pluralistic culture in Sindh.

He further said more than 10% of provincial budget should be spent on human development education & health of Sindh and legislation should be made to protect women rights.

Noted personalities Noor Ahmed Memon, Dastagir Bhatti, Ishtiaq Ansari, Mahtab Akbar Rashidi, Jameel Chandio, Prof Mushtaq Mirani and Dur Muhammad Pathan were present on occasion.
