Three sons of Punjab governor join PPP

Rahim Yar Khan: President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari made me governor of the largest province of Pakistan, said Punjab Governor Makhdoom Syed Ahmed Mehmood addressing a large public gathering in Mehmood Stadium here on Sunday.

He said that today he has come here not as a governor but as a well wisher of area people. He said he will use the portfolio of governor to serve the people of Punjab. He said that he will not take any privilege and official protocol as governor, adding the doors of Governor House will remain open for the people.

Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Asif Zardari made Ahmed Mehmood governor of Punjab due to confidence on him. He said this is the first time that Rahim Yar Khan district got the governorship of Punjab.

He said the PPP will remove the deprivations of the people of this area in the shape of a new province. He said in the meeting of the commission for new provinces they will table the demand of creating the new province. He said free, fair and transparent elections will be in favour of PPP.

On the occasion, three sons of Punjab governor – MNA Syed Mustafa Mehmood, MPA Syed Murtaza Mehmood, and Syed Ali Mehmood announced joining the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP).

MNA Syed Mustafa Mehmood and MPA Syed Murtaza Mehmood had won their seats on the ticket of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) of Pir Sahib Pagara.
