Ratodero, Sindh: As many as 14 students contested to obtain a single MBBS seat in Chandka Medical College as 2803 students of five districts of Larkana Division and two districts namely Naushehro Feroze and Dadu appeared in the entry test for 202 medical seats of the CMC.
The test was held at the Police Training School PTS ground to get admission in professional college which was held under the auspices of National Testing Services NTS.
Tight security arrangements were made on the occasion as the PTS was guarded by heavy contingents of police & rangers.
CCTV Cameras and direct cameras were also affixed to monitor the cheating by the students and the security arrangements.
Director admissions of SMBBMU Prof Waheed Memon told Reporters on the occasion that there are only 202 seats in the Chandka Medical College of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University of Larkana and the contesting students include 1131 male and 1672 are female in this way a ratio of 60% females and 40% males appeared in the test. They belong to seven districts.
In this way about 14 students are contesting for a single seat which shows the interest of the students to become professionally qualified and future doctors of the country. Larkana division include Kambar-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kandhkot @ Kashmore and Larkana districts.
The medical seats should have been increased as two new districts have been included in the entry test, remarked a candidate named Salim Ahmed, who appeared in the entry test so that more & more deserving students could be benefited.
Another student Noshaba said that government should allocate more seats to this college to accommodate more willing students. She further said that the test was held in a peaceful atmosphere and added that students were also seen indulging in cheating.
Chandka Medical College Hospital doctors provided full medical cover to the event as doctors and paramedics were deployed to cover the even along with ambulance & required medicines, equipment & instruments.
