Tribesmen extend unconditional support to forces

Peshawar: A representative Jirga of tribesmen hailing from Landi Kotal was convened on Tuesday here in forces’ cantonment to discuss the overall law and order situation of the area and to take up problems faced by the tribesmen with the new Commandant Frontier Corps FC.

Scores of elders and Maliks of Shinwari, Afridi and Shelmani tribes besides Commandant Frontier Corps FC Col. Mansoor Janjua, Assistant Political Agent APA Landi Kotal, Tayyab Abdullah were among the participants.

While addressing the jirga Col Mansoor expressed his great amusement to be part of the tribal Jirga of tribesmen and said, “the tribesmen of Khyber have fought shoulder by shoulder with their forces in Wars of Kashmir, 1965 and 1971 against Indian armies and have laid their lives for the honour of their country.

He said, the present peace situation will retain intact and no one will be allowed to disturb the peaceful environment, adding if someone found violating law, will be dealt accordingly.

He asked the tribals to inform the forces of any militants’ movement to wipe out before it emerge an untoward incident.

He assured that every decision regarding the area will be taken with the consensus of the tribesmen. Forces will leave no stone unturned to facilitate the tribal at their door steps, Col, Mansoor remarked. He further added that the grievances of tribesmen will be conveyed to their highups for resolution.

The tribal elders including Malik Darya Khan, Wakeel Shelmani and Khan Zad Gul praised the forces efforts for restoration of peace and guaranteed extension of unconditional support to forces.

Malik Darya Khan said sacrifices of tribesmen for their mother land is not hidden from any one and therefore, adding Quaid Azam granted them the honour by declaring them, Bazoe-Shamsheer. Jirga is the oldest tradition of tribal society and every issue should be resolved through jirga, he remarked.

Haji Khan Zad Gul highlighted the condition of the area and informed the FC, Commandant of troubles and lack of facilities in fields of health, education and public health. APA Landikotal Tayyib Abdullah was also present on the occasion who facilitated the convention of the jirga.
