Following is the text of press note issued by Higher Education Commission, Pakistan


Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman, Higher Education Commission (HEC) has expressed resolve to improve academic collaboration and aim for a strategic partnership, instead of relying on individual effort, with Turkey in the field of higher education. He said this during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Mr. Babur Girgin who called on the Chairman at HEC Secretariat.

Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed will invite his Turkish counterpart to come to Pakistan along with a group of vice chancellors of Turkish universities and visit seat of higher learning in Pakistan and collaborate for joint R and D programmes, student and faculty exchange, enhanced networking of online resource and, most importantly, development of technology parks.

The Ambassador expressed his interest in enhancing academic links between the two countries and spoke of a more structured approach to meet these goals. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed said that HEC would also initiate a mapping of individual linkages between two countries that will be strengthened at government level. The Chairman appreciated guidance of Turkish universities in helping to set-up a lever transplant facility at Dow Medical University.
