Two killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Two people, including a Muttahida Qaumi Movement MQM activist, were killed and a woman injured in separate acts of violence in the city on Friday, police said.

A 23yearold man, Muhammad Mohsin, son of Iqbal, was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Tariq Road area, within the remit of Ferozabad police station.

The body was moved to Jinnah postgraduate Medical Centre for medicolegal formalities.

Police said the man received four bullets in his upper torso and was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he died during the treatment.

Separately, an MQM worker Shafqat, 33 , son of Liaquat, was killed in firing by unidentified armed men in Chisti Nagar, Orangi Town, within the jurisdiction of Iqbal Market police station. The body was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem.

The police said the man received four bullets in his upper torso and died on the spot. They said that Shafqat was e worker of MQM and hailed from Azad Kashmir. The man was sitting in his rickshaw this morning when the incident took place.

Similarly, 30yearold Rukhsana was injured in firing by unknown armed men in Baldia Town No. 8, within the jurisdiction of Saeedabad police station. The injured was rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment, where her condition was stated to be out of danger.

The police said the woman received three bullets.
