KARACHI: Eight people, including two Rangers personnel, were killed in the city on Thursday, police said. The bodies of two rangers personnel, bearing torture marks, were found from Mewa Shah Graveyard, Pak Colony, within the remit of Pak Colony police station.
The victims were identified as Hawaldar Munir Ahmed Bhutto 44, son of Dur Muhammad, and Hawaldar Ejaz Ahmed Baloch 33, son of Muhammad Rafiq Baloch. The bodies were moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
Police said both were killed due severe torture. Ejaz was found beheaded. The victims belonged to intelligence wing of Pakistan Ranger and went missing since Wednesday while performing duty in Lyari.
Separately, the body of a 35-year-old man, Abdul Sattar, son of Muhammad Hayat, bearing bullet marks was found from Rexer Lane, Pak Colony, within the jurisdiction of Pak Colony police station. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy.
Similarly, two men were found strangulated to death in Khairabad, Northern bypass, Manghopir, within the precincts of Manghopir police station. The victims were identified as Maqbool 25, son of Nawab, and Iftikhar 30, son of Mansoor. The bodies were brought to ASH for post-mortems.
They were identified through slips found from their pockets, police said.
Separately, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police Mehram Chandio, 45, was killed in firing by his relatives over some family dispute in Bhittaiabad Colony, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, within the limits of Sachal police station. The body was moved to JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
A 42-year-old man, Muhammad Aleem Raja, son of Muhammad Ashraf Raja, was killed in firing by unidentified armed men inside his home in Khokhrapar No. 4, Malir Town, within the jurisdiction of Khokhrapar police station. The body was shifted to JPMC for an autopsy.
Police said the victim received four bullets in his body and died on the spot.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old Javed, son of Bashir Ahmed, was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Gulshan-e-Ghazi, Baldia Town, within the precincts of Mochko police station. The body was brought to Civil Hospital Karachi for a postmortem.
Police said the man was travelling in Mazda when armed bike riders targeted him. He received one bullet in his upper torso and died on the spot.
