Two SC benches will hear high profile cases this week

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has constituted two benches of the Supreme Court at its principal seat Islamabad to hear hundreds of cases, including dozens of high profile corruption cases during the week commenced today Monday.

The bench1 comprises Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed. Bench02 comprises Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain.

Besides hearing hundreds of routine cases, the benches will also hear a number of high profile corruption cases as well as human rights cases including ISAF containers case involving billion of rupees tax evasion, a case pertaining to gang rape of a teenager and setting her body on fire, NICL scam, brutal killings of Hazara community in Quetta carnage and regularization of services of lady health workers etc.

According to cause list, no adjournment on any ground will be granted. And no application for adjournment through fax will be placed before the court. Besides, if the counsel is unable to appear for any reason the Advocate-on-Record will be required to argue the case.
