Islamabad: United Nations UN will organise media debate on “Youth empowerment” on the occasion of UN Day on October 24.
The Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Kimoon has made working with and for young people a priority of his five-year action agenda. The plan is to address the needs of the largest generation of young people the world has ever known by deepening the youth focus of existing programmes on employment, entrepreneurship, political inclusion, citizenship and protection of rights, and education, including on reproductive health.
United Nations Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. With the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations officially came into being. An interactive media debate will focus on Pakistani youth, their lives, their challenges, their success stories, their hopes, said a press release issued here.
