Urgent steps demanded to restore Karachi peace

Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has demanded of the government to take urgent steps for restoring peace in Karachi.

JI Karachi chapter amir Muhammad Hussain Mahenti has said that the increase in bloodshed to greet the sacred month of Ramzan is tantamount to inviting the wrath of God. He expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of targeted killings and demanded of the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to take serious notice of the lawlessness in Karachi and ensure peace in city during the Holy month of Ramzan.

Mahenti further said that the situation was not the same if the arrested target killers got stern punishment and the verdict of SC could be followed, then the situation was totally changed. However, he regretted that this could not be done and the target killers were roaming freely without any fear of arrest.

He termed the killing of over dozens persons including policemen and workers of different political parties on the other day, a complete failure of the government and officials of the law enforcing agencies (LEAs).

“If the LEAs officials have been failed to ensure safety of the life and property of the people, then what they are working for”, he questioned.

JI Karachi Chief welcomed the ceasefire between Katchi and Baloch communities in Lyari and asked the government to take steps on war footing basis to restore peace in entire city during Ramzan.
