LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences UVAS Lahore and Star Farm Pakistan Pvt Ltd have signed a memorandum of understanding MoU to mutually work for the development of livestock and dairy sectors.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and Managing Director Star Farm Pakistan Shaukat Ali Sherazi signed the MoU at a simple ceremony at the UVAS City Campus on Thursday.
Under the MoU, both the organizations would organize training programs for the training of trainers in the field of livestock and dairy. The training programmes will be held and facilitated by the UVAS in terms of labs, lecture rooms, model farms, feed processing plants, pasteurization plant and milking parlour. The UVAS will provide certification and examination facilities for the training participants.
Both the organizations will also exchange information, materials and facilities of mutual interest.
Speaking at the MoU signing, the Vice Chancellor said that the university is providing all animal production techniques and facilities on its Ravi Campus. He said that the UVAS 24/7 Extension Service is helping farming community and striving to improve the overall health, productivity and wellbeing of animals.
Prof Pasha said that the markets of livestock sector are in poor condition and need to be reformed so that the developed products can bring huge profit for farmers in general and the country in particular.
Star Farms Managing Director Shaukat Ali said that his farm is working with many organizations like Agri Business Support Fund Program, USAID, Agriculture Rural Support Program ARSP and also linked with academia to train the stakeholders of industry and academia. He said that under this MoU, the trainers will learn the techniques of traceability which will enhance animal health and dairy and farm management practices.
