Villagers block Indus highway for over six hours to protest against police

Sehwan, Sindh: A large number of people belonging to Jatoi and Otha communities, led by former Taluka Nazim of Sehwan and a PPP leader Sikandar Ali Rahpoto, held demonstration and staged sit-in at Indus highway near Arral Canal on Monday. The villagers were protesting against Nawabshah police for arresting over 40 men and women during a search operation carried out for recovering a kidnapped person.

The protesting villagers had gathered at Indus highway from 6.00a.m and continued sit-in for over six hours blocking the highway for traffic on both sides. The protesting villagers told media that the police from Daulatpur town of Nawabshah district have continued operation since last five days and entered into their homes neglecting the sanctity of four walls.

PPP leader Sikandar Rahpoto demanded IG Police Sindh and DIG Hyderabad to stop the operation and release all the arrested villagers.
