Ratodero: The seasonal outburst of malaria and other viral infectious diseases including flu have made the lives of poor & needy people miserable as these diseases have surfaced in Larkana district.

The private clinics are jam-packed with patients and government Hospital OPDs are also very crowded. Almost every home is affected by these viral infections due to which poverty-ridden people are suffering badly as the prices of medicines have gone up and beyond the reach of many poor families.

Those who can afford costly treatment from highly qualified post-graduate physicians are getting it from their private clinics and those who cannot, visit government hospitals, which face acute shortage of drugs due to late release of first quarter of annual budget for 2013-14.

Senior Medical Officer Dr. Khial Das told PPI that these viral infectious diseases cause throat pain associated with pharyngitis due to which the affected patients suffer from high fever and severe body pain and in some cases vomiting & respiratory distress has also been found.
