Weather: Twin cities receive second winter rain, drops mercury level

Islamabad: The twin cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad received second rain of winter on Sunday, dropped the mercury level.

Under the influence of this weather system‚ widespread snowfall‚ heavy at times‚ is expected over the hills of Malakand‚ Hazara‚ Murree‚ Galiyat‚ Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir today on Monday and Tuesday while hailing is also expected at isolated places in the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab including Islamabad during the period.

According to a spokesman of PMD‚ heavy snowfall ranging three to four feet may occur over the hills higher than 7000 feet and two to three feet snowfall over the hills from 5000 to 7000 during the period. The heavy snowfall may cause the closure of link roads and the possibility of landslides.

On the other hand the business in Rawalpindi Lunda bazaars boomed as hundreds of citizens including children, young boys and girls, men, women and old people thronged the bazaars at Saddar, Lalkurti, Dheri Hasanabad, Raja Bazaar, Adyala Road, Commercial Market, Double Road, Sadiqabad, Kuri Road, Shakrial and other areas to buy warm clothes to keep them safe from chilly weather.
