Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health and Information, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has assured the donor agencies working in different sectors in the province that the PTI government would ensure just utilization of each and every penny and its expenditure record would be available any time for ensuring transparency.
He gave this assurance while attending a presentation on role of UNICEF in the health sector at Peshawar. Briefing the minister, provincial head of UNICEF Dr. Jameel Ahmad informed the minister of the role of UNICEF and its services in the health sector. He further informed that children and women were the target of UNICEF programme and its main purpose was to reduce the neonatal mortality, infant mortality and maternal mortality rates to maximum level.
The Health Minister maintained that the provincial government was bringing drastic reforms in the health sector and in first stage our main focus was the improvement of the emergency services in the state run hospitals.
Similarly, the government was working on the up gradation of the available facilities in the hospitals instead of constructing huge buildings, he added. He said that the PTI, before coming into power had done remarkable work on health and education sectors and now it would be given practical shape.
Referring to the health sector, Yousafzai said that the government would ensure the presence of senior as well as junior doctors in the hospitals and they would be bound to properly maintain the attendance register. He clarified, the doctors who did not maintain their attendance in the register would be considered absent and action would be taken against them.
He further said that he was getting complaints of substandard medicines in the hospitals for which the government has constituted management committee for stopping substandard medicines adding that the journalists would also be part of that committee.
The Minister warned that substandard and spurious medicines were injurious to human health and the people involved in this illegal business would be given exemplary punishment.
He further said that the government, for the purpose was reactivating the Health Regularly Authority. He continued that the government would introduce such foolproof system in all sectors in which no one could make corruption.
Yousafzai asserted that there was no scarcity of resources but there was need of change of mindset and our behaviour. He said that good, sincere and honest people would be brought forward on merit for bringing change as per the PTI manifesto and no personal interest or likes or dislikes would be considered.
