34 suspects held in Rangers raids

Karachi: Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Wednesday claimed to have arrested 34 suspects in different raids in the city and recovered arms from their possession.

Rangers spokesman said targeted raids were conducted in Salaar Goth, Dur Muhammad Goth, Metroville, Nayaabad – Lyari and Punjab Colony areas in the wee hours. He said snap checking was also carried out in Firdous Morr, Shah Faisal Colony, Natha Khan Goth and Kharadar areas.

He informed that during series of raids on the hideouts of criminals across the city, two encounters with gangsters & terrorists took place in Salaar Goth and Nayaabad areas. As a result, two gangsters were killed in Lyari-Nayaabad, while two terrorists were shot dead in Salaar Goth area.

He said a targeted search operation was conducted in Pathan Colony area this morning. He said during the raids 34 criminals including Lyari gang-war elements, criminals affiliated with political groups and members of defunct groups involved in heinous crimes were arrested.

He said Rangers also recovered 37 weapons including RPG-7, SMGs, cracker bombs, walkie talkie sets, stolen motorcycles, foreign currency, narcotics and mixed ammo from their possession.
