Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 61% Pakistanis say that they most frequently eat roti for lunch whereas 17% say they have rice most often.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “In your household, usually what do you eat most frequently for lunch?” Responding to this, 61% said roti and 17% said rice and 22% said both roti and rice.
Across provinces, the data revealed that more residents from Punjab (66%), Balochistan (65%) and KPK (66%) consumed roti for lunch as compared to respondents from Sindh (46%), most of whom were revealed to favor either rice (24%) or both rice and roti (29%).
The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2661 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during June 10, 2013 – June 17, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
