Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 65% Pakistanis said that the performance of the present Punjab government would be better than that of the previous government.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “In your opinion, will the performance of the present Punjab government be better, worse or not different than the previous government?” Responding to this, 65% said the performance would be better and 14% said it would be worse.
However, 20% of the respondents stated there would be no difference in performance and 1% did not give a response.
Across provinces, the data revealed that more residents from Punjab (78%) and Balochistan (82%) were optimistic that the new Punjab government would overshadow the performance of the previous one as compared to respondents from KPK (37%) and Sindh (45%).
Interestingly, more females (68%) felt the new government would perform better than the previous one as compared to males (63%).
The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2632 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during June 03, 2013 – June 10, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
