Karachi: The Punjab government should stop the provision of food hampers and now cylinders, utensils, blankets and mats be supplied to the earthquake affectees so that they could be able to start their normal life before the winter season.
The admission of students of affected areas including 300 in matric, 100 in intermediate and 50 students in graduation and master classes may also be granted in the educational institutions of the Punjab.
This was demanded by the Commissioner, Turbat Muhammad Akbar while giving the briefing about relief activities for earthquake stricken to the 3member delegation headed by the Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani here at Circuit House, Awaran today. On this occasion, Khawaja Imran Nazir, MPA, Political Secretary to Chief Minister, Punjab Talha Barki and officers of civil and military administration were also present.
Brigade Commander, Ibrar Ahmad told in a separate briefing that there were problems by the armed miscreants during the initial job but now the mind set of Bloch brothers had positively changed about the Punjab province after looking the continuous support in term of relief activities being carried out by the Punjab government for the affectees.
Later the delegation visited the affected areas Sarfraz Bazar and Deen Muhammad Bazar with the media men and heard the problems of the stricken. On the occasion, the Deputy Speaker, Sardar Sher Gorchani while sympathizing the affectees told that the Punjab government and its public would continue the support of stricken till the complete rehabilitation.
To a question he said that Balochs were their brothers and their assistance in difficult time was a matter of honour for the Punjab and this assistance of Punjab would help to strengthen the Federation and would also promote the cordial relations among the provinces.
Earlier, the Director General Punjab Disaster Management Authority Capt. ® Muhammad Asif informing the delegation about the relief activities said that the Punjab government had so far provided 50586 food hampers, 10150 tents, 5000 mosquito nets and five ton medicine in 101 trucks and 26 sorties of helicopter of the Punjab Chief Minister, Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif. Each food hamper was sufficient for a week for a family comprising of six member, he added.
