QUETTA: Establishment must change its behaviour for resolution of Balochistan problem while Baloch militant organizations should announce one sided ceasefire to give an opportunity to democratic government. Explosion in women University bus and firing and explosion at BMC Hospital is an example which has second to none.
This was stated by Mohtarma Asma Jahangir former Chairperson Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and a renowned lawyer at a Press conference here Tuesday.
Kamran Shafi, Zahoor Shahwani and others were also present on the occasion.
Asma Jahangir said she held a detailed visit of Balochistan in view of its present situation. During which they visited Women University, BMC Hospital and CMH. They also went to Ziarat and met with affectees and enquired after health of injured persons.
She said Balochistan is confronted with serious dangers. Policies of kill and throw by military leadership was being followed. It’s clear example is four dead bodies thrown during oath taking ceremony of present government. She said despite induction of present government in office there was no change in this policy. People were disappearing as before. We have proofs of at least four people who were affected by these incidents. Incident of abduction for ransom are totally separate from this.
She said HRCP had eyes on Balochistan for long. Had there not been incident of murder of Nawab Bugti perhaps situation would not have so serious as of today.
Asma Jehangir said people of Balochistan are peaceful and they want peace in the province. She referred to recently held elections in this connection.
She appealed to militants to let political government work and enforce a ceasefire for sometime so that political government stops military leadership from work. She said targeting boat maker, washer, and poor people would have nothing.
We know excesses have been committed with militants and they have been forced to follow this path. But she added now a political atmosphere has come into existence and we should come forward to improve it and let it flourish.
She said explosions in the women University bus and BMC hospital and firing is an example of barbarism having no mention in history. She said incidents in Quetta and that of Ziarat are totally different and various organizations have admitted responsibility. Federal government showing responsibility under this situation should take more steps. Military leadership, federal and provincial government has to sit on a table for resolving Balochistan problem. If federal government supports provincial government there can be decrease in provincial issues. No one is safe in the city and security forces do not leave any moment free to disgrace citizens. Policemen are targeted for action against terrorists. We must find out what elements are behind this and who was supporting them.
