Islamabad : Asian Tennis Federation selected two ITF white Badge Official from Pakistan Muhammad Arif Qureshi and Shahzad Akhtar Alvi as a Chair Umpire to officiate 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games Tennis event held at Palembang – Indonesia.
It was a great honor for Pakistan Tennis Federation that two officials from Pakistan selected for this International prestigious event when not a single officials and players could participate in these games due to the clash of two POA’s in Pakistan.
Both Pakistani technical officials gave two days training to the local 48 line judges and 30 ball kids. Both officials had the honor to officiate four finals out 6 played which is great acknowledgement for their competency.
A total number of 17 Chair Umpires from Asian region officiated during the games. Arif said that Pakistan missed the golden chance of winning the Gold Medals by not participating in the games due to the politics in the Pakistan Sports. He appealed the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to intervene and dissolve the issue amicably for uplift of the sports in the country.
