Busy intersections to be redesigned

KARACHI: KMC Administrator Saqib Ahmed Soomro has said that busy intersections would be redesigned to overcome traffic jam problems in the city so that traffic flow could be enhanced on such locations and time and fuel of the citizens be saved as well.

The redesigning experiment for traffic on Nazimabad no. 7 was successful and traffic flow improved as compared to past therefore such measures would be taken to deal with traffic jam problems on busy intersections in the city.

He said this while addressing a meeting of officers of Technical Services and Transport & Communication Departments. He directed officers to conduct complete survey of roads, service roads, highways and link roads in all districts of the city and carry out redesigning of traffic where required so that traffic jam problems could be overcome.

Administrator Karachi said that citizens were facing inconvenience due to immense traffic pressure on Nazimabad no. 7 near Abbasi Shaheed Hospital especially patients going to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, A.O Clinic and other medical clinics also faced inconvenience therefore redesigning of traffic here was carried out in such a manner that citizens arrive their destinations without any hindrance.

He said that such strategy would be adopted on other busy intersections of the city which would not only provide citizens with travelling facilities but also save their time and fuel and help reduce environmental pollution.

Administrator Karachi directed that arrangements should be made for repairing of street lights and traffic signals which would help maintain traffic flow on the roads and prevent from accidents as well.
