KARACHI: Karachi Transport Action Committee leaders Mohammad Ashraf Banglori, Chaudhry Mazhar Hussain, Tanzeem Khan and Nazeer Banglori said on Sunday that relevant department authorities should end hindrances in the flow of traffic due to encroachments along main roads of Karachi.
In a statement, they said that bike rickshaws, vendors and shopkeepers had made encroachments along main roads of the city, causing traffic jams and torments to commuters.
The transporters said: “The road encroachments have been made in connivance with traffic and civilian police. They also charge extortion from bike rickshaws; vendors and shopkeepers for allowing them make encroachment on roadside.”
They said that such encroachments along main roads had been made in Saddar, Liaquatabad No.10, Dock Khana, Gulberg, Garden and several other areas. They demanded of relevant authorities to remove these encroachments so as to streamline traffic flow in the city.
