Karachi: Patron-in-Chief of AlKhidmat Foundation Pakistan and Ex-City Nazim Karachi Naimatullah Khan on Thursday said earthquake in Balochistan is a national disaster and philanthropists should support the affected Baloch brethren.
He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club KPC. Acting Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami JI Karachi Prof Nizamuddin Memon, Information Secretary of JI Karachi Zahid Askari and senior manager of AlKhidmat Welfare Society Karachi Manzar Alam were also present.
Naimatullah Khan said AlKhidmat Foundation and its sister organizations have started relief work in Awaran district of Balochistan and already dispatched relief goods worth Rs 2 million. He informed the second consignment of goods would be dispatched on Thursday today and third on 27th September. He said three hundred tents, rations, medical equipment and other basic articles are dispatched to Awaran for earthquake affected people.
He said AlKhidmat Foundation has established two base camps in Turbat and Bela for relief work. He said teams of expert doctor and volunteers under Pakistan Islamic Medical Association PIMA and AlKhidmat Foundation have already started reaching Balochistan for relief.
He said JI has also established relief camps in five different district of Karachi for collection relief goods and other items for earthquake hit people. He urged the citizens of Karachi and philanthropists to coordinate with AlKhidmat for this noble cause and play their due role in this regard.
He demanded of the federal government and other concerned departments to ensure maximum support and relief for Balochistan government.
