Caretaker Govt to assist ECP for conducing free, fair polls: Info Minister

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi says the caretaker government will ensure a conducive environment for general elections through joint efforts with provincial governments.

He was talking to provincial Minister for Information Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Froze Jamal Shah Kakakhel in Islamabad.

Murtaza Solangi said it is responsibility of the caretaker government to assist the Election Commission in conduct of elections and provide equal opportunities to all the registered political parties to participate in elections.

The meeting also discussed cooperation between federal and provincial departments in media, welfare of journalists and other matters of mutual interest.

Murtaza Solangi underscored the need for training of employees and officers regarding the use of modern media and skills to tackle new challenges.

He said the scope of Information and Broadcasting has expanded in modern times, therefore we should adapt the ministry to modern information systems.

The Minister said Federal Ministry will provide all possible support to upgrade the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Relations Department on modern lines.

On the occasion, the Information Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said the provincial government is making all out efforts to hold elections in a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere.

He said the provincial government will utilize available resources for welfare of journalists.
