Court: SC directs intelligence agencies to file their reply over missing spokesman of Hizbut Tahrir

ISLAMABAD: A two-member Supreme Court bench on Tuesday directed the Inter Services Intelligence and Military Intelligence to submit their written reply till March 12 over the missing spokesman of Hizbut Tahrir, a banned outfit.

The bench comprising Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain expressed dissatisfaction over a report submitted by the ISI and MI contending that neither Naveed Butt was with them nor they had any information about him.

Tariq Asad, counsel for the petitioner, contended that his client had been receiving threat calls from these agencies. The court noted that agencies’ denial was not enough and they would have to recover the missing man.

Meanwhile, the court adjourned the hearing noting that the matter would be heard in detail on March 12. Naveed Butt was kidnapped from outside his house on May 11, 2012 when he had escorted his children back from school.
