Court: SC issues notices on sacking of 642 contractual employees

ISLAMABAD: A two-member Supreme Court bench on Wednesday issued notices to the authorities concerned of Balochistan government seeking their reply over a plea against sacking of over 642 contract employees of excise department.

The bench comprising Justice Tasadduq Hussain Jilani and Justice Nasirul Mulk admitted the plea for regular hearing and adjourned further proceedings till first week of February, 2013.

Counsel for the sacked employees told the court that 642 employees were inducted in the Excise Department of the provincial government in July 2011, however their services were terminated later without giving valid reasons, which was against the service laws.

Appearing on notice, Additional Advocate General Balochistan Azam Khattak requested the court to allow him some time for furnishing reply over the plea, which the court granted and adjourned the matter for first week of February 2013.
