QUETTA: An All Parties Conference of political parties should be called in a bid to improve law and order situation in Balochistan and talks should be held with angry Baloch so that province could catch up progress.
This demand was made by Members while taking part in general discussion of Balochistan budget 201314 in provincial assembly here Tuesday. They included both treasury and Opposition members.
Aslam Bizenjo, Gul Muhammad Domar, Provincial minister Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani, Syed Liaqat Ali Agha, Obedullah Babat, Mohtarma Shahida Rauf, Syed Ghulam Raza and Santosh Kumar spoke on different aspects of provincial budget for new financial year.
They said more than Rupees 16 billion have been proposed for law and order during the coming year. This money would not improve lad and order situation. They said for improving law and order situation All Parties Conference of political parties should be convened so that it could discuss peace and those bent upon deteriorating situation talks should be held with them. He said accused involved in Nawab Bugti murder case should be arrested immediately.
He said subsidy on electricity was abolished in Balochistan. Provincial government and political parties should take emergency measures for restoration of this subsidy. He aid steps have been taken for zamindars in Punjab but no facility was given to zamindars in Balochistan.
They said if we review the budget there are good and bad both. Billions of rupees have been allocated for health, education and law and order. But there is neither education, nor health. Law and order situation is very bad. Quaid e Azam Residency in Ziarat was blown by bombs and chowkidar on duty was killed. It is regrettable incident.
They said government in office is serious to resolve problems of masses. It is not enough we should talk of problems but resolve them as well so that injustices meted out to the province should be redressed.
Members said that no funds were provided for ongoing schemes. Situation in the province is very bad. Unless people are given their rights situation would not improve. We do not want terrorism. There is display of firearms in Balochistan and assembly’s sanctity was not being observed. They called for end to arms culture. They said Iran and Saudi Arabia should keep away from sectarian terrorism in Baluchistan.
Members said that present budget is Awami budget and provincial government would take steps for welfare of people.
Speaker Jan Muhammad Jamali who chaired the session adjourned it till Wednesday.
