Diplomatic PM stresses the need to change the policy of drone attacks

Islamabad: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has stressed the need to change the policy of drone attacks as these attacks have proved to be counter reductive. During a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Islamabad on Thursday‚ he said these attacks are in violation of Pakistan sovereignty.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan which itself is victim of the menace of terrorism is making strides to overcome it and bring peace in the country.

Both the leaders held in depth discussion and reviewed whole gambit of Pak US relation including regional situation with particular focus on Afghanistan.

During the one on one meeting followed by delegation level talks at the Prime Minister House both the sides agreed to work together for bringing peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan wants a stable and peace full Afghanistan which also in the interest of Pakistan therefore it is extending all possible assistance in this regard.

John Kerry appreciated Pakistan’s’ role for peace and stability in Afghanistan.

He said the United States is ready to provide assistance to Pakistan to overcome power crises.

Earlier‚ the US Secretary of State John Kerry held a meeting with Advisor on National Security Sartaj Aziz at the foreign office and discussed bilateral issues besides regional situation with particular reference to Afghanistan.
