Educators and youth asked to be IT World Champion

Karachi: President Tech Education Foundation Rukhsana Zuberi has announced that TEC Education Foundation will lead the efforts of Certiport in Pakistan.

She expressed these views while addressing the press conference at Karachi Press Club. She said TEC Education Foundation is the focal organization authorized to prepare and shortlist prospective competitors through a comprehensive selection process that ensures 100 percent transparency.

She informed that this year, the 2013 Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office is in Washington DC, USA on the 2nd of August. Next year, the date will be soon announced. The registration for the program will commence after August 10, 2013. She said worldwide competition is going on since 2002 and Pakistan is missing out from this important forum. Tec Education Foundation was invited to the Certiport meeting in April 2013 held in Rome where “I had realized the big opportunity for Pakistan and its youth”. She pledged to do all that is required for Pakistan’s participation in the Championship Competition.

She said: “we are inviting youth of Pakistan between ages 13 to 22 years as of May 15, 2014 to compete and become Champions. Certiport’s 2014 World Championship will consist of three rounds; Preliminary/Qualification round students, ages 13–22 as of May 15, 2013 qualify to participate by earning relevant certification at their local Certiport Authorized Testing Centre during the qualification period (October 4, 2012 through May 15, 2013).

She said regional round Certiport authorized focal organizations will implement regional competitions to identify regional champions who they will sponsor to compete in the championship round. The Certiport will help facilitate regional competitions, and Regional winners will be identified and student packets will be submitted to Certiport.

She further said world championship round each country focal organization may sponsor up to three (9) regional winners who will travel to America to compete in the world championship round, which is scheduled to take place in August 2014 contestants will be given assignment which will be reviewed by a panel of judges composed of industry experts. First, second and third place winners will be awarded with a prize package including a trophy, a financial scholarship, and software.

She thanked the press and appealed the media to support this national project. This initiative will help participants acquire skills that leads to a career. She said “We need to guide our Youth and facilitate them to be the world champions.”

She requested the media to help reach out to the youth and also Universities, colleges, training centres and most important of all the educators whose capacity would also be strengthened with access to free UNESCO ICT-CFT, Technology Literacy approach Learning curriculum available free to the focal organizations in Learning network
