Fresh wheat crop arrives; flour rate still high

JHUDO, Sind: Flour is being sold at high rate despite arrival of fresh wheat crop in Jhuddo, Pingrio and some other surrounding areas.

New wheat crop has arrived in local market, making growers of Jhuddo, Pingrio and other areas happy. However, they have still not get any relief.

The trade activities in markets have also got momentum. The wheat is being sold in market at Rs1000Rs1100 per 40kg, despite the government had fixed its rate at Rs1200 per 40kg.

The government is likely to purchase wheat by end of March or in the beginning of April. The new wheat production has started in Jhuddo, Pingrio and some other parts of Sind.

It is irony that flour is being sold at Rs1600 per maund despite arrival of fresh crop.
According to flour millers, grinding of wet wheat is taking much time and that is why the prices of flour are not being reduced.
