Gallup: 36pc Pakistanis believe that Imran should oppose Nawaz Sharif: Survey

Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan 36% of Pakistanis believed that Imran Khan should strongly oppose Nawaz Sharif where as 43% said that he should adopt a stance of friendly opposition instead.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Some people think that Imran Khan should strongly oppose Nawaz Sharif because he has received the vote for opposing Nawaz Sharif after all. Others are of the opinion that Imran Khan should adopt a stance of friendly opposition. What is your opinion on this?” Responding to this, 36% said Imran Khan should vehemently oppose and 43% said he should do friendly opposition. However, 21% did not give a response. Interestingly, the majority of PTI voters (61%) answered in favour of adopting a stance of friendly opposition, whereas 27% preferred that the party should strongly oppose Nawaz Sharif.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2646 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during June 17 to 24 2013.
