Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 70% of Pakistanis said in their household men are responsible for grocery shopping. A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “In some households, depending on the country, different errands are carried out sometimes by men and sometimes by women. In your household, who is responsible for grocery shopping?” Responding to this, 70% said men, 27% said women and 3% said other.
It is interesting to note that there is not much difference in opinion between men and women regarding who is responsible for grocery shopping, as 72% of men think they are responsible for grocery shopping and 67% of women also think men are responsible for grocery shopping.
The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2677 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during November 18 to 25 2012.
