Gutka selling on rise in Mirpurkhas

Mirpurkhas: The selling of Gutka is on the rise in Mirpurkhas and adjoining areas despite the ban of Sindh government. The health hazardous product is openly available in Mirpurkhas, Digri, Kot Ghulam Muhammad and other towns and villages under the patronage of black sheep in police department. Dozens of home-based factories are being run in different areas, manufacturing and selling wet and dry Gutka worth at least Rs1million per day.

It is learnt that 80percent of Gutka users are Sindhi and Balochi speaking people, including their children. In these populations the cases of mouth cancer are alarmingly high but the police, health department and other concerned agencies are not taking any action against the manufacturers and sellers of Gutka.
