Hockey: Bajwa hails green-shirts for Asian CT title

Karachi: Secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Asif Bajwa praised green-shirts for clinching Asian Champions Trophy title in Doha (Qatar).

“Winning the title of the Asian Champions Trophy is a big achievement,” Bajwa said. “The titles and medals would help the team to gain confidence.”

Pakistan defeated archrival and defending champions India in the final of the tournament with a 5-4 score after a thrilling encounter. India defeated Pakistan in the previous edition’s final.

Pakistan has also recently won bronze medal in high-profile Champions Trophy in Australia also defeating India in the third place playoff match – vaulting the green-shirts to fifth spot in the international rankings.

“India is also a good team and when the two teams meet in the there is extra pressure on both sides as expectations are high from the fans to perform,” he said.
