JI condemns sharp rise in electricity tariff

Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan and JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, have strongly condemned the fresh, oppressive raise in the electricity tariff and said this was the worst drone attack by the PML(N) government on the masses since its takeover.

In a joint statement, they warned that the sharp rise in prices resulting from this raise would cause a fresh flood of price rise which could even throw out the rulers from the echelons of power.
Calling for the withdrawal of the fresh raise, the JI leaders said the latest raise was directly related to the IMF loan, adding that the IMF was a Zionist controlled body whose mission was to ruin the industry and agriculture of Pakistan and the Muslim world.
The JI leaders said that per unit raise from Rs. 2 up to Rs. 6.59 besides five different taxes practically meant increase of Rs.10. This was a serious blow to the masses and would increase the cost of production of industrial and commercial institutions many times, and bring another flood of inflation.

They said the tyranny of the rulers had crossed all limits. They said that the electricity tariff in the country was already high and the new raise would have disastrous consequences. The people were already starving and committing suicides, while some had been forced to sell their dear ones for a few coins. If the present situation continued, the people would find it expedient to stop the use of electricity.

Seperately, Syed Munawar Hasan said that the solution of the problems of the Muslim Ummah lies in its unity. As long as the Muslim rulers are the slaves of the aliens, the problems of the Muslims would continue to increase, he said while addressing the concluding ceremony of the annual Tafseer course at Mansoora mosque, previous afternoon. He said that the main hurdle in the liberation of Kashmir, Palestine, and other occupied areas was the disharmony among the Muslims and their reliance on Islam’s enemies. JI Naib Ameer, Ch. Muhammad Aslam Saleemi, and Maulana Abdul Malik, also addressed the ceremony.

Hasan said the elite class in the country, the secular and liberal elements as also the ruling junta did not like the advancement of Islam in the country, yet the common man’s love for Islam and the Holy prophet could not be diminished.

He said, the anti Islam forces were also obstructing the progress of Islam through democratic means. In Algiers and Palestine, the Islamic parties securing public mandate were not transferred power and now, in Egypt, the government of Dr Mursi who had won elections in five series besides a referendum had been toppled. He said this attitude of the west was disastrous for inter faith harmony and world peace, and could plunge the world into another war. The Muslim rulers would have to abandon the slavery of the US and the west and work for Muslim unity in the larger interest of the Muslim Ummah, he said.

The JI Ameer stressed upon the Pakistan government to act in line with its election manifesto and fulfill its promises to the people. He said that on one hand, the US was violating our country’s sovereignty through drone at tacks while on the other hand, the rulers had made life difficult for the masses due to price hike, load shedding and unemployment.

Syed Munawar Hasan remarked that the previous rulers had not earned as much public hatred and ignominy during its five year rule as the PML(N) leadership had earned during its one and a half months rule. He said, the people who had voted for the PML(N) in groups were now seen hurling abuses on the party in the same fashion.

He said, the rulers anxiety to befriend India despite its inherent hatred for this country and violation of our independence and sovereignty, was tantamount to rubbing salt on the wounds of the Kashmiris.
