Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that Indian Premier Manmohan Singh’s tirade terming Pakistan as the epicentre of terrorism and Kashmir as India’s integral part simply showed that India was sticking to its 65 years old stance, and the Nawaz Manmohan meeting in New York would simply be an exercise in futility.
Addressing the provincial and district level office bearers of the JI at Mansoora on Sunday, he said that the more the Pakistani leadership desired friendship with India, the greater was the arrogance and hatred from the Indian side.
He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif’s craving for the Most Favourite Nation status to India had now become a matter of shame for the entire nation, and Nawaz Sharif’s stance was full of contradictions and the arguments advanced by him were weak and lacked logic.
The JI Ameer made it clear to Mian Nawaz Sharif that the nation could not compromise on the Kashmir issue for normalizing relations with India.
As for terrorism, he said that India was self sufficient in this field and had been busy in state terrorism in Kashmir for decades.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that India, enjoying full support from the US and the west, was destabilizing this country from Afghanistan. It was infiltrating saboteurs besides arms and money for this purpose. The ultimate goal was to create anarchy and chaos in the country and to make out a case for international control over our nuclear assets.
Stating that Pakistan’s present foreign policy was designed to protect US interests, the JI Ameer warned that if the country continued to be a party to the so-called war on terror, and went on extending logistic support to the US, terrorism would continue and our citizens would be the target. Therefore, it was high time to pull out of the US war.
The JI Ameer termed as ridiculous the government claim that it had stopped flight of drones from our bases and that the drones were now taking off from Afghanistan. He said that the drones taking off from anywhere in Afghanistan could not easily hit their target without intelligence support from within Pakistan.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that the enemies of Islam, having failed in their evil designs despite brute use of force and repression, were now compelling the Islamic movements to adopt the path of violence so as to justify the use of force against them. However, the Islamic movement leaders, at their recent moot in the city had once again resolved to continue their struggle peacefully.
