The Kartarpur Corridor continues to reunite people, who got separated at the time of partition without bidding farewell to each other.
In another such instance, a family was reunited after 76 long years, thanks to the internet and the visa-free border crossing.
According to details, Muhammad Ismail and his cousin, Surinder Kaur, met at the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur, after nearly eight decades.
Speaking about their lives before partition, Ismail said that they lived in Shahkot town of district Jalandhar and got separated during the riots. He added that they tried their best to find their missing family members but failed.
How They Reunited?
Ismail credited a local YouTuber’s channel, Desi Infotainer, for their reunion. He said that he was contacted by Mission Singh from Australia when his video went viral, who shared contact details of his missing family members with him.
Despite being in contact for over four years, they couldn’t meet due to visa issues. Complaining about the Indian embassy’s behavior, Ismail said that all his efforts to acquire a visa to meet his family were in vain.
Furthermore, Surinder Kaur was also happy to meet her family after decades. She said that she looked for her family after the partition but failed.
Her family performed religious rituals at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib and thanked the Pakistani government for the Kartarpur Corridor.
