KMC seeks help of UCs to improve recovery

Karachi: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation KMC Chief Officer Matanat Ali Khan has directed Municipal Utility Charges Department to improve recovery condition of utility charges with the collaboration of 178 union councils of the city.

The UCs which would show better performance for recovery would be provided with financial benefits.

Matanat Ali Khan said this while addressing a meeting called on recovery of utility charges which was attended by Secretaries of all union councils, Sr. Director Utility Charges Tahir Durrani, Assistant Director Local Government Karachi Qamar Shaikh and other officers.

Chief Officer said we availing current resources would have to improve our performance in provision of municipal facilities to citizens which would produce positive results.

He said if all UCs actively worked for recovery of utility charges, recovery condition on yearly basis would be improved.

He said that KMC needs resources for providing various services in the city whereas we were not given as much grant as we required for all this.

He said we need to improve the situation of facilities honestly after which citizens themselves would go ahead and pay the utility bills.

He also directed all UC Secretaries to contact with residents directly and form committees on neighbourhood level and resolve their complaints.

On this occasion Assistant Director Local Government Karachi Qamar Shaikh said that recommendations were under consideration for recovery of utility charges and in this regard we would fully cooperate with KMC to improve the overall recovery condition of utility charges.
