Karachi: The Karachi Water & Sewerage Board KWSB has launched the drive to recover Rs.500 million arrears from industrial concerns of Landhi Korangi industrial areas. The KWSB is seeking help of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry KATI.
In a meeting with KATI, the KWSB officials devised strategy for recovering the areas according to which a joint committee has been constituted consisting of KATI chairman Zubair Chhaya, Chaudhry Niaz, former chairman Zahid Hussain, Masood Naqvi, Deputy Managing Director (Revenue) KWSB Waqar Hashmi, Chief Engineer GIS Shakil Qureshi, Deputy Director Korangi Town Sohail Khalid and Deputy Director Landhi Town Shahid Ali Khan.
In the first phase the defaulting industrial units would be persuaded to clear dues by writing letters and holding meetings with them. After the reconciliation efforts, the defaulters would be issued notices containing deadline and in case of non-payment the water connections would be disconnected in third phase under Land Revenue Act.
